You love browsing through chic accessories, apparel, and decor.  Having all your favorites in one wishlist or store instead of having through dig through the masses at each shop – that would definitely make life a little easier.

Wish no more, we've found the hip window shopper's dream. The Fancy: “Part store, blog, magazine, and wishlist” – did we mention it was virtual?

I decided to check out TheFancy.com after reading an article about the website in The New York Times style section.  The Fancy aims to combine social networking with the fashion world by creating a place to gather images of one’s favorite photographs, clothing, gadgets, and artwork. The website then lets you share “all things beautiful” with friends by acquiring followers and following others (Considine). The Fancy resembles a cool artsy blog that shows off one’s interests, taste, and style.

After much time spent browsing the website’s collections, I created my own Fancy collection. I added photos of discoveries I “fancied” to my own profile through the Fancy’s “bookmarklet” tool, a gadget the user puts into her web browser to easily upload pictures she likes onto her page. According to the New York Times, the site has already acquired an estimated 10,000 users, and that is just from its launch last September!

After spending a little too much of my afternoon finding pictures to add to my profile, I could easily relate to the reasoning behind the success of the website. Furthermore, it is not just college girls like me reaping the benefits of thefancy.com. In fact, many emerging designers, such as Seema Hamid, a San Francisco based photographer, designer, and stylist, are using the site to promote their work as well.

Love shopping or pretty things in general? You should definitely check out thefancy.com – it just may become the future of shopping.
